Introduction to NBA Cares

NBA Cares is the league's global social responsibility program that builds on the NBA’s mission of addressing important social issues.
NBA Cares programs and participants have provided more than 4.1 million hours of hands-on service and created more than 1,115 places where kids and families can live, learn or play in communities around the world. The NBA also engages more than 18 million youth annually, inspiring play and teaching the values of the game.
NBA Cares works with internationally recognized youth-serving programs that support education, youth and family development, and health-related causes, including: Thurgood Marshall College Fund, Special Olympics, YMCA of the USA, Boys & Girls Clubs of America, UNICEF, the Make-A-Wish Foundation, Share Our Strength and GLSEN.



New Orleans Pelicans forward Anthony Davis has received the March NBA Cares Community Assist Award presented by Kaiser Permanente in recognition of his efforts to encourage health and fitness among youth in the New Orleans community. The award recognizes an NBA player each month who best reflects the passion that the league and its players share for giving back to their communities. He also at NBA All-Star Weekend 2018: helps bag canned goods at the Los Angeles Food Bank to help seniors in need as part of NBA Cares Day of Service.



Golden State Warriors guard Stephen Curry was the recipient of the “2013-14 Season Long Kia Community Assist Award” in recognition of his numerous charitable contributions, fundraising and remarkable generosity in the Bay Area and across the globe. The award recognizes the NBA player who best reflects the passion that the league and its players have for giving back to t heir communities. Also, Stephen Curry along with the Golden State Warriors of Oakland host Special Olympics Clinic in Shanghai.



Cleveland Cavaliers small forward LeBron James was nominated for the season-long NBA Cares Community Assist Award. Through a foundation he began himself, Cleveland's All-Star forward (Now of the Los Angeles Lakers) funded the building of new, state-of-the-art playgrounds across the country for needy children and their families.
